Shay Stafford danced her way to the Moulin Rouge and Lido in Paris.
Via the Tivoli, Jupiters and various Japanese holiday resorts, Shay has had the kind of career that many young dancers can only dream about.
Her journey from suburban Brisbane Australia to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, where she enjoyed an illustrious career as a dancer, was documented in her autobiography Memoirs of a Showgirl.
The book give readers a sneak peek into the life of a showgirl in the famous dance club.
Stafford retired from the feathers and high kicks two years ago after more than a decade dancing in Paris.
She married, had two children and now spreads her time between dancing, working and book commitments.
But she acknowledges the bite from the showbiz bug often needs to be scratched.
"The grind of 12 shows a week with heavy costumes took its toll,'' she says.
